Example review
What a Founder Decision Review looks like
This example is made up. It shows the kind of review I would write. It is not a client project, and no results have been observed.
The decision
A founder has made an app for sharing expenses. They want to decide whether to add features or improve how they explain the app to possible users.
What I am assuming for this example
The person organizing the expenses needs the app. They can share a link that lets everyone else view the breakdown without installing it.
The founder has made demos but has not shown this benefit clearly. There is no reliable information about whether people return to the app or would pay for it.
Possible reasons for the problem
People may not understand what the app helps them do. The demos may be reaching people who do not organize shared expenses. Entering the information may take too much effort.
It is also possible that a spreadsheet or message already does the job well enough.
What I would suggest trying first
I would suggest the founder ask a small number of willing organizers to use the current app for a real shared expense. The founder would explain the link sharing feature and note where people need help or stop.
When the founder shares what happened, it would help me decide whether the first problem to address is the explanation, the steps in the app or the benefit itself.
What I would look for
Can the organizer enter the expense and share it? Can the recipients view the breakdown? What help does anyone need?
When another shared expense comes up, does the organizer choose the app again? If no new expense occurs, that does not tell me whether they would return.
How the result could change my advice
If people cannot finish the task, I would look into the step that blocks them.
If they finish but prefer their old method, I would suggest the founder ask them why the app is not worth using again.
If they use it again without help, I would suggest testing with more people before making a broader claim.
The later review
After the test, I would compare what happened with the possible reasons listed above. I would then explain what I recommend checking or changing next.
A thank you or a demo view would not show that someone had adopted the app.
